How the floriculture industry is investing in the future to support florists

The scale of the cut flower market is huge and is on the increase, with a whopping global trade in cut flowers of £10.6 billion ,with the value in the UK alone reaching £1.3 billion*
Stems are shipped and transported between continents with speed. Around 90% of UK cut flowers are imported, mainly from the Netherlands, with Royal Flora Holland playing a crucial role importing and re-exporting 40% of cut flowers from all over the world.
After visiting Royal Flora Holland last November, I came away feeling as though the industry is really trying to help all aspects of the horticulture/ floriculture industry supply chain, from breeders to the end customer/recipient.
This supply chain is incredibly large and involves farmers, wholesalers, packers, traders, airlines, cargo ships, supermarkets, florists and more.
