Why This Series Matters More Than Ever
As Interflora’s National Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland, I spend much of my time on the road with our Business Development Managers, visiting florists across our network and beyond. From bustling high street shops to tucked-away studios, we see first-hand what works, what doesn’t, and what small changes can make a big difference.
This nine-part series was created to share those insights with you, a collection of practical, proven ideas that florists are using right now to grow their businesses, boost profitability, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Whether you’re an established shop or just starting out, these articles are here to help you think, “ I can see this working in my shop… why not give it a try?”

Why Now? The Reality Facing UK Florists
The UK floristry industry is at a crossroads. Revenue is forecast to contract slightly over the next five years, sitting at around £1.1 billion, with growth slowed by rising costs and intense competition from supermarkets and online retailers (IBISWorld). The number of traditional high-street florists has fallen from 8,000 in 2016 to around 5,500 today, and that number continues to decline (British Florist Association). In fact, retail closures overall are accelerating, 13,479 shops shut down in 2024, and projections suggest 17,350 closures in 2025, with independents hit hardest (Centre for Retail Research).
