Hannah does UK proud in Helsinki

She was a hairs breadth away from an medallion but by gum Hannah Beckley did the UK proud in the World Skills finals in Helsinki.

Competing as the UK representative in Floristry Hannah was supported and mentored by Laura Leong, herself no stranger to the world of competition as she represented the UK in the Interflora World Cup back in 2019.

In the three day competition – and pitting her skills against 13 other young florists she had to complete 8 different tasks ranging from intricate floral jewellery to wedding work, planted designs and two surprise packages – all in front of a roving audience!

Hannah from Evesham was encouraged into floristry by her Mum and has never looked back. She started working in a florist shop at 15 and at 16 enrolled into Moreton Morrell College. There she was introduced to WorldSkills UK Competitions by leading tutor Jane Benefield and the rest, as they say is history.

However whilst she may not have come away with a trophy it was still an amazing experience and one which gained her many new friends and is a stepping stone to even bigger things.

Indeed as Hannah herself said on Facebook “I’m proud to say I put 100% into all my pieces and was only 3 marks off a medallion, I’m so happy I had the chance to compete and hopefully this is just the start of the journey”

Having seen her work – she was a finalist in the Interflora World Cup heats as well – we reckon Hannah is one to watch!
