Storm Arwen certainly gave the country a battering last weekend with gale force winds and freezing temperatures. This finally put paid to the last of the summer flowers still hanging on having benefited from an unseasonably mild autumn. Gone are my nasturtiums and calendula, which is only to be expected, but still providing colour at this late stage is a large and rather wonderful, mop-headed hydrangea.
