Spring's Secret: Fritillaria

Closely related to lilies, and prized by floral designers and gardeners alike, Fritillaria come in many forms, from the nodding, bell flowers of the chequered lily, the upright spires of the Persian lily or the bold, majestic crown imperial.


This is a group of flowering bulbs which can often be overshadowed by showier spring flowers such as tulips and narcissi but they deserve a closer look.
