Courses

Floristry - Level 2 Diploma (Fast Track or Study Programme)

This one-year course will benefit you if you are looking to work within the industry. It covers all aspects of floristry from beginner level. Students aged 19+ years will be required to attend college 2 days per week with a 3rd day for self directed study/work experience.


Work experience is essential to gain this qualification, and will be carried out as part of the course. Help will be given if necessary to find you a work placement, which is for a minimum of 40 hours. Consistent, regular attendance is required to achieve this qualification within the stated time. Much of the course is assessed via the continuous assessment method, and therefore you will be asked to produce assignments throughout the period of the course.


Modules may include:

-Introduction to hand tied and presentation floral designs

-Introduction to funeral and sympathy floral designs

-Design and construction of floral arrangements

-Simple floral wedding designs and accessories

-Display of floristry goods

-Introduction to working in the floristry industry

-Introduction to function decoration using floral displays

-Identification and processing of cut materials and pot plants

-Introduction to art and design for florists

-Introduction to plant processes and planted designs


Entry requirements

4 x GCSEs at Grade 4 or above to include Maths & English Language. Students aged 19+ - Maths and English qualifications at Grade 4/C or above are an advantage. Mature students looking for a career change are encouraged to apply. A keen interest in floristry is essential.


Career Progression

This course has been designed to provide a qualification allowing progression towards the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Floristry.



Floristry Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma

The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Floristry is for learners who are interested in developing the specific technical and professional knowledge and skills that will lead to meaningful employment in the floristry industry. Learners will explore a wide range of industry areas. Learners may progress into employment or within their current role or onto further learning including university or an Apprenticeship.


Modules may include:

· Principles of Health & Safety

· Work experience

· Principles of the creative design process

· Plant and flower care

· Hand tied designs

· Wired designs

· Designs in a medium

· Glued designs

· Working in the industry

· Business


Entry requirements

Full Level 2 Diploma in Floristry or industrial experience.

Students must have achieved a Merit or above in written assignments from the Level 2 qualification. 16-18year-olds must have GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and maths


Career Progression

The Level 3 programme has been designed to provide a qualification allowing progression onto the Level 4 Diploma in Floristry programme or employment within industry.



City & Guilds Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry

This course is aimed at ambitious, experienced florists who wish to progress to management level. The Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry will encourage you to develop your creative floristry skills and your business acumen. This course is designed for florists who want to develop their skills through continuous professional development. A blended approach can be taken in these qualifications, so remote (online) learning may be possible for theoretical aspects of the course.


Applicants should be working in the industry at least part-time, or be self-employed, as you will have to complete assignments which require you to be actively working in the industry. If you are not currently working in the industry, but have a genuine passion for floristry, then please contact Jane Benefield, Course Leader, to discuss your application.


City & Guilds Level 5 Master Diploma in Professional Floristry

This course is aimed at ambitious, experienced florists who wish to progress to management level. The Level 5 Master Diploma in Professional Floristry will encourage you to develop your creative floristry skills and your business acumen. This course is designed for florists who want to develop their skills through continuous professional development. A blended approach can be taken in this qualification, so remote (online) learning may be possible for theoretical aspects of the course.


Applicants should be working in the industry at least part-time, or be self-employed, as you will have to complete assignments which require you to be actively working in the industry. If you are not currently working in the industry, but have a genuine passion for floristry, then please contact Jane Benefield, Course Leader, to discuss your application.


Moreton Morrell College are a finalist in the Student Team Competition at the Interflora World Cup in Manchester.
