For the first time in RHS Chelsea Flower Show’s history funeral flowers were featured with a display from Farewell Flowers Directory and they won a Gold Medal.
The Floristry Trade Club's own Su Whale, caught up with Gill Hodgson MBE of Fieldhouse Flowers in Yorkshire and founder of Flowers from the Farm. They discussed the sustainability of the display, the conversation about funeral flowers and the importance of customisation for floristry businesses.
The Chelsea installation by TFFD took the form of an artistic interpretation of a funeral scene. Its centrepiece was a soaring arrangement of vibrant, wildly natural seasonal garden flowers and foliage that appears to burst out of an open willow coffin held aloft on white birch pallbearers. Watched on by the wirework forms of a man and his dog by artist, Susan Nichols.
