Are you looking to start a career within the floristry industry? This course is for you. You will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them.

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent, including grade 2 or 3 in English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered.

To further your studies you could progress onto the Level 3 in Floristry.

Work within retail florists, in wedding and other event floristry, in hotels and hospitality. You could also set up your own business or work as a freelance florist.


Level 3 in Floristry

Are you looking to start a career within the floristry industry? This course is for you. You will learn about different flowers and plants and how to look after them.

  • Allow you to develop the specific technical and professional knowledge and skills that will lead to meaningful employment in the floristry industry whilst also further developing your artistic and design skills.

  • The course will enable you to explore a wide range of areas of the floristry industry.

FdA Floristry Design (Foundation Degree)

This foundation degree in Floristry Design is focused on developing your knowledge and understanding of a broad range of floristry skills and techniques, supported with essential theoretical studies.


Course Aims

  • Provide a high quality programme of study in floristry design with a professional and vocational focus, developing your skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence to gain sustainable employment within the floristry industry.

  • Enable you to adapt to the skills requirements of the industry in the context of the rapid developments taking place in the field of commercial floristry, contemporary design and events.

  • Enhance your independent-thinking, ensuring that you can communicate confidently and effectively within a professional and commercial context.

  • Help you to become a capable and well-rounded graduate with appropriate industry knowledge, professional and practical skills who can make a contribution to the labour force.

· Floristry Enterprise and Entrepreneurship - 20 credits


Entry Requirements

A minimum of 80 UCAS points

GCSE English Language at grade 4 or above, or an equivalent qualification

An appropriate academic reference


UCAS points may be from qualifications such as A Levels, BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas, T Levels, Access to Higher Education Diplomas, and City and Guilds Advanced Technical Diplomas amongst others. Please use the UCAS Tariff points calculator to determine the UCAS points value of your qualification.


Life and/or experience of non-traditional students will be taken into account when considering applications. The successful completion of an entry task may be required when considering applications without the required formal entry qualifications.

If your first language is not English, or a Tier 4 student visa to study is required and GCSE English at grade 4/C or equivalent is not held, you will need to evidence your English language proficiency level, such as International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 6.0 overall (with a minimum 5.5 in each skill).


Advanced entry may be possible due to prior experience or certificated learning; applicants will be invited to complete the accreditation of prior learning approval process. If you have an appropriate HNC, you can apply for direct entry to Year 2.

2 years full-time/3 years part-time

Upon graduating you can progress into a wide range of careers in the industry at a senior level including: Retail Florist, Freelance Florist, Floristry Business/Venture, Wedding Planner, Corporate Events Planner, Overseas Florist.


BA (Hons) Floristry Design [Top Up]

The BA Floristry Design Top Up is designed for students who have successfully completed the Foundation Degree in Floristry or an appropriate Level 5 qualification in floristry and wish to top up to gain an Honours degree award.


Course Aims

  • Encourage you to experiment with creative skills within floristry design, whilst finely tuning your professional skills and enabling you to effectively plan and gain sustainable employment.

  • Allow you to develop an entrepreneurial mind-set and skills to generate original ideas in response to identified needs and shortfalls within the floristry industry, with the ability to act upon this in personal development planning.

  • Help you to develop into a capable, well-rounded and independent graduate with higher-level practical skills that can contribute to the wider economy and developments taking place, particularly in relation to the floristry industry.

  • Provide a flexible learning environment that enables you to shift from an abstracted study to developing knowledge and skills that can help you adapt to changing and future environments.

  • Floristry Design Installation.
