The dismal, wet soggy start to 2026 has been a challenge for growers across the country. April is the period when early spring flowers such as Narcissi, Hyacinths and Muscari are on their way out, their exit this year hastened by prolonged rainfall and a distinct lack of sunshine. Fortunately, summer will soon be with us, and to bridge the gap we have some reliable all-rounders plus early flowering summer blooms to look forward to.

Alstroemeria
Alstroemeria is a true floral trooper, a long-lasting and dependable cut flower. Grown in unheated tunnels, it is readily available from UK growers and is exceptionally robust, with stems on some capable of growing up to 1.5 metres.
