Summer Wedding Flowers for Every Budget

Summer weddings have a magic all of their own. Long days, golden evenings and gardens in full bloom, create the perfect backdrop for unforgettable celebrations.

Flowers can make or break a wedding day because at the heart of a beautiful, emotional and special day are flowers. Flowers soften spaces, tell stories, and bring a couple’s vision to life. But while floral dreams may be limitless, budgets often are not!

The good news? With thoughtful planning and a little creativity, stunning wedding flowers can be achieved at any price point. Whether the wedding is an intimate gathering or a grand affair, you can make the most of the couple’s floral budget this summer without compromising on style or impact.

The first and most important tip for maximising your couple's budget is to embrace what’s naturally in season. Summer offers an abundance of vibrant, fresh flowers that are not only more affordable but also at their peak in terms of colour and quality.

Sunflowers, dahlias, cosmos, zinnias, roses and hydrangeas are flowers that thrive in warm weather, making them readily available and cost-effective compared to out-of-season equivalents.

Our customers/clients need to trust us as their florist to guide them towards seasonal selections, you can achieve a lush, high-end look without the premium price tag. Of course, trust is a two-way street, and we have to equally trust our clients, to enable us to do our job and ensure that the flowers we design, make their special day, the day of their dreams.

If you’re working with a smaller budget, the key is to focus on impact over quantity.

Instead of spreading flowers thinly across every corner, concentrate them where they’ll be seen and remembered most. I have always mentored my brides who have a smaller budget, to concentrate on their bouquet and the reception flowers. We can make beautiful bridesmaids bouquets/posies on a budget and we can make ceremony flowers on a budget because they can be limited on scale, but the bridal bouquet will always be the centre of attention on the day, on film and on camera. It will more than likely be shared on social media and the same goes for the reception table flowers. Guests will be seated at a table for at least 3 -4 hours and I can guarantee that the flowers on the table and in the room, will be talked about.

Repurposing some flowers from the ceremony can help too. For example, some ceremony flowers can transition into reception décor, (this would be my last resort to suggest to a bride, as it can be time consuming for you and your team ) or if the bridal party offer to do the changeover, it can be sloppy and then this is not a good reflection on your business.

Foliage-heavy designs are both modern and can be economical. A selection of foliage adds texture and volume without the cost of dense florals, and by adding a few well-placed flower heads amongst the foliage, we can create a beautifully understated aesthetic.

Another favourite of mine is to use bud vases and single stem cylinder clear glass vases. Bud vases can give a simple just picked look with a few short stems, whilst a single stem cylinder vase looks elegant and sophisticated for those brides that want simplicity and elegance. A single large headed rose can be sheer beauty when placed in rows or in a group.

With a bit more flexibility on budget, you can explore fuller arrangements and more variety in their floral designs. Instead of minimal bud vases consider medium-sized centrepieces that mix flowers and greenery. Using a consistent colour palette helps tie everything together while keeping costs manageable. Adding coordinated bouquets for bridesmaids and buttonholes for the wedding party enhances the overall look without dramatically increasing expenses. Keeping these designs slightly simpler than the bridal bouquet ensures balance.

Floral arches and hanging installations are beautiful but can be costly. I find more and more couples are wanting large installations for those guests that want/need an ‘Insta’ image. Be sure to explain the different designs and costs to your client and then advise them on what you can do on their budget or suggest alternatives that don’t have the costs of an arch or a hanging installation such as a Selfie Floral Frame.

If we combine premium stems such as peonies, hydrangea, garden roses and orchids, with more affordable flowers and locally grown flowers, we can create depth and richness. This blend gives the impression of luxury whilst staying within budget.

For those with a larger floral budget, summer offers endless opportunities to create immersive, breathtaking environments.

I have been very lucky to have been involved with high end weddings and I know that sometimes, budgets don’t even come into conversations. When we have clients like this, we are very fortunate, but remember that these types of clients expect a 5-star service and will not tolerate anything less, so with the highs comes pressure! For high end weddings, I find that full, cascading arrangements with a wide variety of textures and a considered colour palette, creates a look of luxury and sophistication. From lush bouquets to overflowing centrepieces, the focus is on abundance and detail.

With more resources, we can source specific shades and rare varieties to perfectly match their vision and your creative vision. This level of customisation ensures every detail feels intentional and cohesive. Detail and excellent customer service is key.

For large scale Installations, floral chandeliers, aisle meadows and dramatic arches create statement pieces that transform venues into extraordinary spaces and create unforgettable experiences for guests. Beyond the ceremony and reception, luxury budgets allow for floral touches in unexpected places, like powder rooms, cocktail bars, and lounge areas, enhancing the overall atmosphere.

This summer, let the season guide you with its abundance of colours and textures in flowers and foliage.
