The brief, "Swords & Sorcery: Fantasy Heroes" certainly sounded challenging, but nine floristry colleges from across the north of England stepped up to the mark at this year's Harrogate Spring Flower Show to produce large scale exhibits that impressed the judges and delighted visitors to the Floral Art Pavilion.
After careful scrutiny, the judging panel from the UK Floristry Judges Guild gave three Gold awards and six Silver Awards, with overall Best College going to the team from Wigan & Leigh College.
Gold and Best College Award went to Wigan & Leigh with their floral interpretation of "Merlin's Magical Realm.

Bishop Burton College won a Gold Award with their "Lord of the Rings" themed exhibit.

The third Gold Award went to Northumberland College for their "George and the Dragon" exhibit.

Southport College achieved a Silver Award for their Wonder Woman theme. Led by floristry tutor Jane Robbins, this was the college's first time competing at Harrogate Spring Flower Show.

A Silver Award also went to East Durham College for their exhibit entitled "Clash of the Titans"

Doncaster College received a Silver Award for their Lord of the Rings-themed exhibit "The Eye of Sauron".

Leeds City College received a Silver Award for "Maleficent".

A Silver Award also went to Askham Bryan College for "How to Train Your Dragon".

The final Silver Award went to Shipley College for their exhibit entitled "Aladdin".

Congratulations to all of the students and tutors for the huge effort that has clearly been made to produce these inspiring exhibits.
