Spotted on the Market: Cut Kalanchoe

Hi, I’m Merel van den Burg and I’ve been in the floral industry for more than 25 years, as a florist and a stylist.

I’m the Commercial Manager of Florismartdirect, a platform where we offer everything for the professional florist to run their business.

Cut Kalanchoe - a laster!

We all probably know the Kalanchoe as a flowering plant but this strong succulent, which is available in a wide range of bright colours and varieties, also comes as a cut flower.

A vase of cut Kalanchoe flowers is very decorative and will last for a minimum of four weeks. You can also use it dry in wedding work or arrangements, as it will survive easily without water for some time.

This makes cut Kalanchoe flowers ideal for a multitude of uses – summer weddings being just one example.

  • Cut Kalanchoe are available in about seven colours.

  • A single stem is filled with a mass of flowers.

  • The average stem length on the market is 50 cm.

  • Cut kalanchoe is available year-round.

  • It is great as a filler flower, but also makes a striking main focal flower in bouquets.

We put them to the test and placed this vase on a patio to decorate a garden table. It lasted more than 5 weeks. So, they are definitely worth it!
